My experience with Stoney Creek Contracting exceeded my expectations. Joel, president, and charmer saw to all of my misgivings and fears about letting men into my home and into my bedroom, as my en suite is attached to the master bedroom. I had my old 1970s master bathroom totally gutted, the space redefined, and totally refurbished—it was not an easy task!

 

Before I committed, Joel drew up the plans and walked through the space with me so that I had a firm concept on how all the new fittings were to be placed—even down to where the outlet for my hair dryer and my hot curlers would be situated for easy access to the vanity—making my morning routine of getting ready for work convenient. The plan in place, the payment plan discussed, the contract agreed to, and then the work began.

 

Throughout the project the crew attached to Stoney Creek were gentlemen; highly skilled people who knew their trade and easily and proficiently did their tasks. Always these men were courteous, kind and thoughtful and considered my comfort throughout the entire process. They made the stages of ripping and taking out the old bathroom easy and with as little mess as possible. I can say the same for the sub-contracts—the plumber, the many electricians and the tile setters worked expediently and proficiently—always demonstrating their skill and talents. Throughout the process, I observed an obvious demonstration of perfection and close attention to detail. When there was a challenge, it was sorted out quickly.

 

Joel and his head man Steve always checked in with me throughout the project. They consulted with me daily, always considering my comfort levels, during the entire project. I knew what was going to happen the next day, when to expect them, and how long they would be on site. These attributes are necessary and appreciated for a home owner.

Home Renovation Completed in 2011

We had Stoney Creek Contracting help us with our home renovation last year. We were incredibly satisfied with every aspect of the job - from the planning stages, through to the decision-making moments, the actual work, the follow through, the quality of the work, and all the other aspects of the project.

 

Joel was very easy to work with. We always felt like our home renovation was as important to him as it was to us. Joel listened to what we wanted. We had some definite ideas and wants, and he was able to make our vision a reality. We also had some uncertainty and he helped us problem solve and visualize and create what we wanted. Nothing was impossible and in fact, Joel had lots of good suggestions all round and seemed to have no end to being able to problem solve. He was very generous with his time, both in the planning stages and also with pesky "little questions". We could have almost believed we were his only client. He was willing to estimate both time and money amounts for our project and honored all promises and commitments. Overall, Joel and Stoney Creek provided an excellent service.

 

The quality of the work was excellent. Joel and the rest of his crew were easy to work with. We felt that the biggest advantage of working with Joel was his fantastic communication. We always felt in the loop and there were no sad surprises (and some very happy ones when things looked even better than promised). He genuinely wanted us to be satisfied. And we are. We would use Joel again and would not hesitate to recommend his services to anyone.

The Task - Turn a run-down and outdated apartment into a clean, contemporary and functional unit to maximize an investment and minimize upkeep.

The Plan - Hire an interior decorator that has experience with local contractors as well as suppliers to make the task as risk-free as possible. A superb general contractor with good connections to reliable sub-trades is a key to a successful completion.
